Organic Mint Cultivation Using a Three-Pillar Microbial Management Model

19 October, 2026

In short: Thao Duoc Xanh’s “three-legged stool” model combines three groups of practices: building soil with organic matter, balanced stage-by-stage nutrition, and beneficial microorganisms to keep plants healthy. The three legs work together; without one, fields lose fertility, suffer more disease or give unstable yields. Field records show results season after season.

The three pillars

PillarGoalPractices
1. Soil and organic matterLoose, moisture-holding, humus-rich soilRotted manure, home-made compost, straw mulch, rotation
2. NutritionRight nutrients at the right time60-day schedule, fish liquid fertilizer, organic potassium
3. BiologyNatural pest and disease suppressionTrichoderma, Bacillus, natural enemies, field hygiene

Applying it to mint

  1. Before planting: prepare soil, base-dress with organic matter plus microbes, raise beds for drainage.
  2. During the crop: stage-by-stage organic feeding, mulch, hand weeding.
  3. After each cut: remove diseased leaves, apply microbes, top-dress for fast regrowth.
  4. End of year: review yield and disease; plan rotation if needed.

How to evaluate the model

FAQ

Are organic yields lower?

The first season may be slightly lower while soil improves; from then on healthier soil gives steadier yields and less disease.

Is it certified organic?

It is an organic-oriented growing protocol; certification requires a separate assessment by a certification body.
